Gandiv Live is committed to the foundational principle of journalism: Accuracy. We strive to verify all information before publication and correct any errors quickly, clearly, and transparently. This policy outlines our commitment to accuracy and our process for correcting mistakes.
1. Our Fact-Checking Commitment
A. Pre-Publication Verification
All content published by Gandiv Live undergoes a mandatory internal verification process appropriate to the type of article:
- Sourcing: Journalists must rely on primary sources whenever possible (e.g., official documents, first-hand interviews, government websites, verified social media accounts).
- Verification: All key facts, statistics, names, titles, and dates are checked against original source materials by the editor overseeing the content vertical (e.g., Vidya Singh for Jharkhand news).
- Expertise: Stories involving complex subjects (Law, Health, Finance) must be vetted by the editor with verifiable academic or professional Expertise (E.g., Amarkant Singh’s legal background for crime reports).
B. Avoiding Misinformation
Our editorial team is trained to identify and avoid the publication of content that is:
- Deceptively edited or manipulated (photos, videos).
- Based on unverified rumors or social media speculation.
- Misleading, exaggerated, or clickbait designed solely for views rather than information.
2. Our Corrections Procedure (Accountability)
We take accountability seriously. We distinguish between a Correction (a factual error) and a Clarification (information that was factually correct but might be misleading or lacking context).
A. When to Issue a Correction
A correction is made immediately when a factual error is found, no matter how small (misspelled name, wrong date, incorrect number, etc.).
B. Correction Process
- Correction Acknowledgment: The relevant editor (or the designated Grievance Officer) will acknowledge receipt of the error report within 24 hours.
- Internal Review: The editor will immediately verify the error using original sources.
- Correction Placement: Once verified, the article is corrected in two ways:
- In-Line Fix: The false information within the body of the article is quietly corrected.
- Public Note: A prominent, dated Correction Note is added to the top or bottom of the article to ensure transparency.
C. Style of Correction Note
All public correction notes will be written in a consistent, standardized, and clear format, such as:
CORRECTION (Date & Time): An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated [what was wrong]. The article has been updated to reflect the correct information that [what is correct]. We regret the error.
D. Multi-Platform Corrections
If an error was distributed via social media, we will endeavor to correct it on that platform, usually by deleting the original post and publishing a new post beginning with “CORRECTION:”.
